New Delhi , Jan. 6

MICROSOFT Corporation India on Friday announced that it has released a security update to help protect customers from exploitations of a vulnerability in Windows Meta File (WMF) area of code in the Windows Operating System, in response to malicious and criminal attacks on computer users that were discovered recently.

"Customers who use automatic updates will receive the update and do not need to take any additional actions.

"Consumers can also manually download and deploy the update," a Microsoft release said.

It said that enterprise customers who were using Windows Server Update Services would also receive the update automatically.

"Microsoft's monitoring of attack data continues to indicate that the attacks are limited ," the company pointed out.
