CCTL achieves record throughput

Our Bureau

Chennai , Jan. 8

CHENNAI Container Terminal Ltd (CCTL) managed by P&O Ports has achieved a record throughput of 7,00,107 TEUs for the calendar year 2005 compared to 6.18 lakh TEUs in 2004, according to a press release.

During 2005, it handled 618 vessels with an average parcel size of 1,100 TEUs. With the softening of vessel charter rates in the international market and with large shipping lines acquiring new tonnage in 2006, CCTL will see new services being launched from the terminal in the first half of 2006.
