Industrialising agriculture

This is with reference to, "Make second green revolution a reality: PM" (Business Line, January 4). It is true that 66 per cent of the population depends on agriculture for its income. However, only a few of them earn enough from agriculture.

It takes a lot of work before the average farmer earns the money. The farmer has to depend on the monsoon for irrigation and the government for good prices.

The Government should declare agricultural an industry.

Once that is done, India will not only lead in the global market, but will also overcome problems of unemployment, housing and modernising agriculture.
