Rubber Firm trend continues in spot rubber Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Jan. 9 THE domestic spot rubber maintained a firm trend on Monday. Selected grades improved on moderate demand from the covering groups and purchase agents, as the inflow of the raw material was still meagre. RSS 4 remained under pressure though closed flat at Rs 70.50 a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi probably on buyer resistance as major manufacturers were still inactive on the grade. Futures weakened further on NMCE since traders appeared unwilling to take fresh positions as the trend setting Japanese markets were on a holiday. The January contract was quoted at Rs 71.11 (Rs 71.30), February contract at Rs 72.48 (Rs 73.09 ), March contract at Rs 74.02 (Rs 74.52) and April contract at Rs 75.90 (Rs 76.21 ) per kg for RSS 4. The February delivery contract for the grade was traded at Rs 72.01 against Rs 72.51 a kg on MCX. On NMCE, the volumes till noon were dull at 757 lots, with 294 lots in January, 287 lots in February, 135 lots in March and 41 lots in April. RSS 3 declined to Rs 77.76 from Rs 78.05 a kg at Bangkok spot. The physical rubber prices per kg were: RSS-4 : Rs 70.50 (Rs 70.50); RSS-5: Rs 69 (Rs 68.50); ungraded: Rs 67.50 (Rs 67); ISNR 20: Rs 68.75 (Rs 68.25); and latex 60%: Rs 50 (Rs 50).
