Hyderabad , Jan. 9

THE Russian Internet security solutions company Kaspersky Lab has announced direct presence in India to target the growing opportunity for security solutions.

The company is targeting small and medium business segment, large enterprises and personal computer users.

Addressing a press conference, the Head of South-East Asia of Kaspersky Lab, Mr Aleksey E. Gromyko, said, "India has emerged as a promising security market. All these years, Kaspersky was present through original equipment manufacturers. Given the potential here and growing personal computer users, the company expects to address it directly by setting up a centre at Zoom Technologies Ltd."

Mr Gromyko said, "Security is no longer a mere product, but has emerged as a solution that individuals and companies are looking to lately. That means, apart from sale of products that address their specific security requirement, they need 24x7x365 days support and upgrades. In alliance with Zoom, we plan to offer such services."

Kaspersky has teamed up with the Hyderabad-based Zoom Technologies, as its sales-cum-implementation partner and is scouting for more India partners to address the market.

The Managing Director of Zoom Technologies, Mr M.H. Noble, said the company would set up a dedicated training-cum-support centre in Hyderabad for Kaspersky Lab.

Being a closely held Moscow-based company, representatives from Kaspersky Lab refrained from commenting on the company revenues and said they were amongst the top 10 security solutions providers in the world. The company, founded by Russian military technology expert Eugene Kaspersky in 1989, has since been one of the pioneers in security solutions and is rated amongst the fastest in terms of response times by independent agencies. The company, which supports some 200 million users globally, does not have plans for development centre in India.

Managing growing number of viruses, increasing flow of spam and hacking related concerns have emerged as a major pain points resulting in security cost escalation.
