Gathering momentum

Workers picking coffee at an estate in Madikeri in Kodagu district, Karnataka. Coffee harvest is in full swing and a rise in global prices has come in handy for the growers. Coffee prices are near six-month high on tight supply, though the rates have tended to fall on technical correction this week. Currently, farm-gate prices for arabica parchment are quoted at Rs 4,365-4,450 for a 50-kg bag, up from Rs 4,050-4,200 last week. On the other hand, robusta cherry is ruling flat at Rs 1,450-1,500.
