Regulatory Bodies & Rulings 12 short-listed for TRAI Secy post Thomas K. Thomas
New Delhi , Jan. 11 THE race for the post of Secretary, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, is heating up with the Government short-listing 12 senior officials from various agencies. The interview is scheduled to be held over two days. The post was left vacant after Dr Harshvardhan Singh left TRAI for an assignment abroad. The front-runner in the race is Mr Rajendra Singh who is the acting Secretary, TRAI. Others in the race are Mr R.K. Bhatnagar, Advisor, Fixed Network, TRAI; Mr P.K. Mittal, Senior Deputy Director General, Department of Telecom; Mr P.S. Grover from Telecommunication Council India Ltd; Mr N.N. Muguder, Jt Commissioner, Ministry of Textile; Mr Ram Narain, Chief General Manager, MTNL, Mumbai; Dr Geeta Rawat, Ministry of Law; Mr S.K. Gupta, General Manager, BSNL; Mr Jai Raman, Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd; Mr Jamuna Prasad, General Manager, BSNL, Raipur; Mr N. Paramsharan, Deputy Direct General, Value-Added Service, DoT; and Mr Arvind Kumar from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. The TRAI board will also see changes since the three-year term of the current team ends in March. The Government has already notified for a change in guard. While the TRAI Chairman, Mr Pradip Baijal, is scheduled to retire, the other key member on the current board, Dr D.P.S. Seth, is in line for a term with the International Telecommunication Union.
