Octroi in VAT

Octroi is applicable to those goods which are carried from one municipal corporation to another.

For this, every transporter has to wait hours to pay the octroi amount.

This leads waste of time and delay in the processing the order of goods.

To hasten the process and in order to get the delivery in time, the government should incorporate the octroi in the VAT; this will result in the following benefits:

  • Goods will be dispatched under single rate.

  • Government and private organisation will have less documentation.

  • Costing of a product will become easier.

  • Octroi on the goods will be paid once a year, since it will be a part of taxation.

  • There will be no more cash transactions.

  • Delivery of goods will be on time.

  • Consignee and consignor both will be benefited
