Writer Corporation plans expansion in Chennai

Our Bureau

Chennai , Dec. 12

WRITER Corporation, a logistics firm that provides relocation, warehousing, information management and cash management services, is looking to expand its existing 80,000 sq ft facility in Chennai to 1,07,000 sq ft. It also plans to invest Rs 20 crore in opening a new facility with the same dimensions in the same region, according to Mr Denzil de Souza, Managing Director, Writer Corporation.

He said that the company's operations in Tamil Nadu has witnessed a huge growth, and expects the facility to reach full capacity by March, hence, the need for expansion.

He said that overall the company has been growing at the rate of 30 to 35 per cent in the last year, with a revenue of Rs 150 crore this fiscal year.

He said that the company employs 2,500 people in 50 cities across India, and has offices in Bahrain and Dubai as well.

The existing facility uses modular racking systems to store information and related records, all of which can be retrieved on demand and faxed or e-mailed to the client as required.

It also has climate-controlled storage for data tapes, which comes in handy for oil and natural gas companies looking for storage space for their seismic data.

The building has been ergonomically built to resist fire and floods, and remained unaffected during the recent downpour and flooding in Chennai, according to a release.

Mr de Souza said the company provides cash storage facility for banks as well as cash replenishment services for banks' ATMs.
