The Awards

ICSI will be presenting the ICSI National Awards for Excellence in Corporate Governance in Mumbai today.

The awards will be presented by Mr H.R. Bhardwaj, Union Minister of State for Company Affairs, at a function to be held at the convention Hall of the Bombay Stock Exchange at 6.p.m. The guests of honour on the occasion will be Mr Prem Chand Gupta, Union Minister of State Company Affairs, and Mr Ashokrao Chavan, Minister for Industries, Maharashtra. The jury for the award is headed by Mr V.N. Khare, former Chief Justice of India.

Prior to the award function, there will also be a panel discussion on `Independence of directors: by Statute or by Cultivation' at 4.p.m. The panellists include Mr Y.M. Deosthalee, Whole-time Director and CFO, L&T; Dr Omkar Goswami, Chairman, CERG Advisory; Ms Naina Lal Kidwai, Deputy CEO, HSBC Securities; Mr Rajanikant Patel, Executive Director and CEO, BSE and Deepak M. Satwalekar, MD and CEO, HDFC Standard Life Insurance.
