TCS to hire 8,000 in Q4

Mumbai , Jan.12

TATA Consultancy Services made a net addition of 6,076 employees during the third quarter of the current fiscal, and managed to contain attrition at 8.7 per cent, unchanged from a year ago.

During the fourth quarter of the fiscal, gross additions to the company's workforce will be 8,000. Of this, 3,500 will be fresh recruits, while 4,500 will be added on through the acquisition of Pearl Insurance as well as of Tata Infotech.

The total associates (employees) with the company now stand at 59,384.

Utilisation has improved as well, said Mr S Padmanabhan, Head, Global Human Resources, at TCS. Excluding trainees, employee utilisation in Q3 was 78.29 per cent, up from 78.05 per cent in Q2.

Including trainees, utilisation was 75.5 per cent (74.97 per cent).

International associates constitute 6.6 per cent of the company's employee strength. The number of its global development centre associates is 1,676 (1370 in Q2). Women associates constitute 23 per cent of all employees.
