PMC-Sierra centre

BANGALORE: PMC-Sierra Inc, provider of broadband communications and storage semiconductors, announced the setting up of its India technology centre in Bangalore on Thursday.

"India is emerging as a leading technological centre and we are planning to hire approximately 40 to 50 people in 2006 as we launch our operations," said Mr Bob Bailey, PMC-Sierra's Chairman and CEO, in a press release.

The company has appointed Mr Arun Bellary as the Managing Director of its India operations.

Prior to joining PMC-Sierra, Mr Bellary was founder of WiaX Systems Inc., a company focused on WiMAX broadband wireless access.
