Strategy Variety - Entertainment & Leisure Animal Planet plans specific time bands for appointment viewing Our Bureau
New Delhi , Jan. 13 AFTER the flagship Discovery Channel, the focus is now on Animal Planet. In order to encourage appointment viewing, specific time bands for certain type of programmes have been created. Starting from the first quarter of this year, Animal Planet will have four time bands - Funzone, Safari, Masters of the Jungle and Unexplained, Unexplored. Funzone will feature episodes of the popular Animal Planet series that delves in the humorous and lighter aspects of some of our favourite pets. These will include programmes such as The Planet's Funniest Animals and Amazing Animal Videos. The Safari time band is devoted to the thrilling and spine chilling experiences of jungle safari. Some of the programmes that will be aired in the series are Most Extremes, Indian Safari, Natural World, Predators, Young & Wild and Equator. Masters of the Jungles will be series of world's most exotic and dangerous animals while the fourth time band called Unexplained, Unexplored will have intriguing and exciting aspects of the animal kingdom. Speaking to Business Line, Mr Raja Balasubramanian, Brand Director-Marketing, Animal Planet, said: "The introduction of time bands will help in our marketing endeavours to promote appointment viewing, programme slots and channel recall." He added that the selection of the time bands and the programmes was done after an exhaustive audience research.
