The Hindu Business Line : Blue Dart launches SMS-based tracking

BLUE Dart, the integrated air, express, courier and logistics company, has launched an upgraded version of Mobile Dart, an SMS-based service that enables customers to track their shipments through text messages sent from anywhere in the country.

The service does not require registration and customers would be able to avail themselves of the service by messaging their airway bill numbers. An automated response would provide the current status of their package.

An SMS would also elicit an automated delivery advice once the shipment is delivered, an official statement said.

The statement quoting Mr Malcolm Monteiro, Chief Operating Officer, Blue Dart Express, said the service provides greater convenience and control to the customer keeping in mind his increased mobility and demand for real-time information.

Keeping in view the growth potential of the pharma, gems and jewellery and textile industries, the company has opened 30 offices, 10 franchisees and 17 regional service participants in Gujarat, which is a growing hub for these sectors.
