WORKING for the quick reopening of Dunlop India Ltd, the Ruia Group is currently busy recruiting senior-level marketing, management and production personnel. Already, the company has appointed more than 15 executives and is in the process of taking in 35 to 40 more soon.

According to sources, a few candidates were also short-listed for the CEO's job as well as those of production heads at both the Sahagunj and Ambattur facilities. "We will be recruiting a total of roughly 60 senior executives latest by next week," a company official said.

The company is also re-opening and streamlining its administration as well as marketing establishments in various metros and other important locations. Discussions have also started with dealers.

Tyre industry sources said the company is now targeting executives with experience in marketing truck and bus tyres for heading various zones.

The company is reportedly zeroing in on truck and bus tyres to start with.

Meanwhile, Dunlop is expecting to finalise the labour agreement at Sahagunj facility shortly. "We have assessed the total labour dues at over Rs 35 crore and propose to settle part of the same through deferred payment. The proposal is now being scrutinised by the trade unions. We expect to arrive at a conclusion shortly," an official said.

Discussions are also on with various funding agencies in India and abroad for financing modernisation of both the facilities. "We have already prepared a plan for modernisation and re-opening of the facilities which will be taken up with operating agency SBI at the next meeting of BIFR on January 16," the official said.
