Patni Computer plans campus in Hyderabad

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad , Jan. 16

PATNI Computer Systems Ltd has announced plans to set up a campus in Hyderabad that would see total investment of about Rs 500 crore and possible induction of about 10,000 people over the next few years.

Speaking to Business Line, Mr Neeraj Gupta, Head of Telecom Business Unit, Patni Computer, said that the company had signed up with the State Government for a 30-acre site at Poppalaguda near here and sought to develop its facility in a phased manner with a capacity to house 10,000 employees.

The company made an entry into Hyderabad following its acquisition of Cymbal Corporation for $68 million in November 2004. This acquisition has expanded its role in the telecom strategic business unit (SBU), offering a range of application development and systems integration services for telecom carriers. It added key accounts of Virgin Mobile, Hutchison Telecom and Comcast.

Refraining to give the specific time-frame for the investment, Mr Gupta said, "It will depend on what the business demands and the need to ramp up operations."
