Cellnext develops portal for interactive TV — Ties up with mobile,cable operators

THE Escorts-promoted mobile value-added services solutions provider, Cellnext, has tied up with a leading cellular operator and cable operators to offer a real time interactive TV channel.

The service will enable users to play games and chat with their friends on their television sets through short messaging services. The move is part of Cellnext's initiative to launch a mobile portal 6677, which will offer a range of services, including multi-lingual messaging.

Mr Ajay Vaishnavi, Vice-President and Head of Operations, Cellnext, said that the interactive TV would hit the Delhi markets by the month-end and subsequently other cities in the next phase. While Cellnext has developed the service platform, the cellular operator and the cable operator will provide the delivery system. Subscribers may have to pay a one-time entry fee, apart from the SMS charges.

The 6677 portalalso allows messaging-based services in Hindi Cellnext is a 100 per cent subsidiary of the $500-million Escorts Group.
