Viswapati Trivedi takes over as CMD of IA

MR VISWAPATI TRIVEDI has assumed charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Airlines Ltd, which was recently renamed as Indian.

Mr Trivedi took over from Ms Sushma Chawla, who had held charge of the post of CMD for the last seven months.

A 1977 batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, Mr Trivedi is a post-graduate in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a Doctorate in International Finance from Simon Fraser University, Canada.

Prior to taking over as CMD, Mr Trivedi was Joint Secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

His earlier assignments include a tenure as Principal Secretary, Commerce and Industries and Commissioner (Commercial Tax), Madhya Pradesh, and Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Financial Corporation.

He has also had a four-year posting with the International Monetary Fund, an official statement said.
