Hyderabad , Jan. 17 APACHE Investment Holdings Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based exclusive supplier of footwear to Adidas, the global footwear major, has been allotted a 315-acre site in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh to develop a special economic zone (SEZ) and locate its manufacturing base. Announcing this after the State Cabinet approved the allotment of land to Apache, the State Information Minister, Mr Mohd Ali Shabbir, said that Apache has a presence in China and the US and employs over 30,000 people with more than 60 per cent of them being women. The State Government has agreed to allot the land at Mambattu in Tada mandal of Nellore district for 25 years for lease for one rupee to develop the SEZ. The Government will invest in training the employees. Apache will have the advantage of no tax for a 10-year period and will also be provided all the necessary infrastructure facilities. Since Apache has assumed the role of a developer of an industrial park, the State has granted the promoters a status of a Government-promoted industrial park. The company will locate its manufacturing plant in the SEZfor footwear and related inputs and majority of the employees here will be women. The company, in its Memorandum of Understanding with the State Government, has stated that it would invest about Rs 200 crore within four years, while its affiliates are expected to pump in about Rs 200 crore into the SEZ. The investment could be further ramped up to over Rs 500 crore along with a tannery.
