BANGALORE: Yahoo! Inc on Tuesday announced the appointment of Mr George Zacharias as Managing Director of Yahoo! India, effective January 30.

Mr Zacharias will be based in Bangalore and will work with Mr Venkat Panchapakesan, the head of Yahoo!'s Global Software Development Centre. Mr Neville Taraporewalla, current country general manager of Yahoo!'s Mumbai-based India operations, will report to Mr Zacharias.

Mr Zacharias was previously President and Chief Operating Officer of Sify Ltd.
