MUMBAI: Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) has recorded a reduced net loss, year-on-year, for the quarter ended December 31, 2005. It has also reported a cash profit as against a cash loss during the same year-ago quarter.

The net loss for the quarter reduced to Rs129.11 crore (Rs 145.23 crore). EBIDTA for the quarter amounted to Rs 33.58 crore (Rs 50.89 crore).

Revenues at Rs 289.16 crore showed a growth of 52 per cent, while the subscriber base grew by 106 per cent. The operating costs per subscriber reduced by 49 per cent, said a company release.

Finance charges increased from Rs 19.88 crore (Rs 41.84 crore) mainly due to foreign exchange fluctuation. Depreciation charges were higher at Rs 120.71 crore (Rs 74.47 crore) due to subscriber and network expansion, apart from the accelerated depreciation due to re-estimation of certain assets.

The company is a listed subsidiary of Tata Teleservices Ltd.
