Shackling the IIMs

This is with reference to the article, "Ill-advised obstruction," (Business Line, January 13). The argument could be: If Bangalore could be renamed as Bengaluru to give it a local flavour, why can't the IIMs be shackled to remain within the confines of India?

Institutes such as the IIMs are supposed to foster a global outlook in their students who are to be trained to take on international competition. And they can't even reach out to a small country like Singapore now? So much for the much-touted policy of liberalisation. Fortunately, the last word on the subject has not been said. That the Science and Technology Minister Mr Kapil Sibal has spoken against the HRD is a ray of hope.
