BHEL bags equipment contract for 192 MW hydro project in H.P.

New Delhi , Jan. 18

STATE-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has won an order to supply equipment for LNJ Bhilwara Group-promoted 192-MW Allain Duhangan hydroelectric project in Himachal Pradesh.

In a statement here, BHEL said the company outbid major European multinational firms under a "stiff" international competitive bidding process, as its offer was found to be the "best" in techno-economic terms. The equipment major will take 30 months to commission the project. It will be involved in designing, manufacturing and commissioning of Pelton hydro turbines. While the hydro sets would be manufactured at the company's Bhopal plant, the controls would be supplied by its electronics division in Bangalore.

BHEL has so far supplied and commissioned thermal, hydro and gas-based power generating equipment with a cumulative capacity of over 2,700 MW.
