NIIT Technologies has reduced the headcount by 109 in business process outsourcing division , even as it posted a 36 per cent year-on-year rise in net profit at Rs 18 crore in the third quarter ended December 2005.

"We have reduced the headcount in the BPO business to bring costs under control. The cut has been in the area of outbound calls, as it was not resulting in significant margins," the NIIT Technologies CEO, Mr Arvind Thakur, said here.

In the second quarter, the voice business contributed 63 per cent of the BPO revenues and in the third quarter, it came down to 58 per cent, he said. The company is aiming to bring parity in the voice and non-voice business.
