Chemicals GHCL Q3 net more than trebles Our Bureau
AHMEDABAD: GHCL Ltd (formerly Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Ltd) has reported a sharp increase in its net profit for the third quarter of 2005-06 at Rs 26.55 crore as compared to Rs 7.4 crore in the same quarter last year. Income from operations rose 29 per cent to Rs 190 crore (Rs 147 crore), the company said in a release on Thursday. The last few months witnessed major growth initiatives in terms of acquiring SC Bega Upsom, a soda ash company in Romania, and the recently concluded acquisition of Dan River, a US-based home textiles player. The Vapi home textile unit of GHCL has recently received its first order from Dan River. GHCL's scrip closed at Rs 125.95 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Thursday, up Rs 3.70 from its previous close of Rs 122.25.
