Covering purchases buoy rubber prices further

THE weekend session witnessed domestic rubber prices scaling another high.

Covering groups and purchase agents fuelled the bull run by chasing the arrivals, while the producing sector remained extremely optimistic about the technical and fundamental strength of the current up trend.

Buying interest was visible in all the grades. NMCE February contract closed at Rs 78.29 (77.56), March contract at Rs 79.75 (78.98), April contract at Rs 81.13 (80.08) and May contract at Rs 82.59 (81.45) per kg for RSS 4.

The March delivery contract for RSS 4 closed at Rs 79.50 against Rs 79.40 a kg on MCX.

Spot prices a kg were: RSS-4: Rs 76 (75.50); RSS-5: Rs 74 (73.50);

Ungraded: Rs 73 (72.50); ISNR 20: Rs 73.25 (73) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 53 (52.50).
