$105-m aid from World Bank for water schemes

THE Union Government and the World Bank have signed a $104.98-million loan assistance agreement for promoting the sustained and effective use of Hydrological Information System by potential users concerned with water resource planning and management.

The loan assistance of $104.98 million would be from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).

The project would improve productivity and cost-effectiveness of water-related investments in 13 States and eight Central agencies, said a release.

The beneficiary States are Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Pondicherry, Punjab and Tamil Nadu.
