Wrong signal, says Kamal Nath

Our Bureau

Chennai , Jan. 21

"IF any State Government wants to get into the liquor business and cable TV it is going in the reverse direction," commented the Union Minister for Commerce and Industries, Mr Kamal Nath.

He was reacting to journalists who had sought his comments on a legislation proposed by the Tamil Nadu Government to acquire major cable TV networks in the State. It may be recalled that the State Government took over from the private trade the retail marketing of Indian Made Foreign Liquor in November 2003.

Mr Kamal Nath said that any legislation that sends a wrong signal would hurt the State. It will lose investors' confidence if it takes retrograde steps, he said.
