Events 2-day ICAI seminar in Mangalore from Jan 27 Our Bureau
Mangalore , Jan. 23 THE Mangalore branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), in association with St Aloysius College here, will conduct a two-day national seminar on `Accounting practices: An interactive dialogue with professionals,' from January 27. Addressing newspersons here on Monday, Mr Nitin J. Shetty, Chairman of the ICAI, Mangalore branch, said that it is a unique seminar where professionals and academicians would interact with each other for sharing knowledge. Stating that education becomes more comprehensive when principles and practices are integrated, he said such an exercise would be useful for the teachers to become aware of issues in the field of accounting. A strong need is felt for an effective industry-institution interaction from the viewpoints of relevance, quality and employability of university education. He said that such an exercise would also help restructure commerce and business education. Six areas of accounting practices have been identified for the seminar, in addition to a session on CA course. Mr N. Vinay Hegde, President of Nitte Education Trust, will inaugurate the seminar. Mr G. Ramaswamy, Central Council Member, ICAI, New Delhi, will be present on the occasion, Mr Shetty said. Nearly 200 teachers are expected to participate in the seminar, he added. Prof. A.M. Narahari, Dean, Faculty of Commerce, St Aloysius College, Mangalore, was present on the occasion.
