AP CM for Street Vending Policy

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has asked the traffic police and Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) to evolve a Street Vending Policy and put it in place in three months from now.

At a review meeting held here on Wednesday, he asked the officials to provide alternative sites for LIDCAP (Leather Industries Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh) kiosks run by the poor along footpaths.

He suggested that municipal bodies could be reorganised into three categories - ordinary municipalities, grade municipalities and municipal corporations. This categorisation could be based on population, density, annual revenue and percentage of population engaged in non-agriculture occupations, a Government press release said.
