Letters New partnerships
This is with reference to the editorial, "New partnerships," (Business Line, January 19). It highlights the present trend vis-à-vis the so-called rules of the global market place. The companies will have to find international allies to cater the customers' demands, which are on the rise. Every industry has now realised that the national boundary does not offer too much insulation against the increasing competition. Confining business to the knowledge of local terrain would put the local entrepreneurs in a fix, whereas aligning themselves with suitable enterprises could provide fresh business opportunities. Such process requires the maturity of the venturing sector and political will. The country is poised to look upon new ventures such as the Fiat-Tata plan. Such efforts would no doubt cement the relations between nations while boosting business. It is possible that soon the world may witness a `business driven diplomacy'. C. P. Velayudhan Nair Kochi
