Low arrivals prop up rubber to Rs 78/kg

SPOT rubber continued to remain buoyant during the weekend session. The market indicator RSS 4 improved to Rs 78 against Rs 77.50 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi as covering groups and purchase agents preferred to maintain the prices at higher levels amidst low arrivals.

According to market circles, a better opening is expected next week since all leading international markets ended in an extremely bullish mode on Friday.

NMCE February contract closed at Rs 79.09 ( 79.02 ), March at Rs 80.97 ( 80.62 ) , April at Rs 82.90 ( 82.45 ) and May contract at Rs 84.13 ( 83.54 ) per kg for RSS 4.

March delivery contract for the grade ended at Rs 80.28 against 80 a kg on MCX .

Spot prices a kg were: RSS-4 : 78 (77.50); RSS-5: 76.25 (75.75); ungraded : 75.50 (75); ISNR 20 : 76.50 (76); and latex 60% : 55.50 (55.50).
