Retailing Flemingo Duty Free chain slashes product prices Our Bureau
Chennai , Jan. 28 FLEMINGO Duty Free, the duty-free shop chain that has presence across Africa and Asia, will introduce its new pricing policy as of today, according to Mr Atul Ahuja, Director, Flemingo India. He said that international tie-ups with various companies have enabled the company to offer products at prices that match global standards, such as a bottle of Chivas Regal whisky, formerly priced at $29, now reduced to $26. Similarly a bottle of Black Label, earlier priced at $28 now costs $25. He said that there has been a price reduction of one to four dollars for all the products. Also, the products are priced competitively in comparison to the Dubai duty free stores as well, with a packet of Benson and Hedges Special Filter cigarettes being offered at $11 as opposed to $12.22 at Dubai duty free shops, and $110 for a bottle of Dom Perignon champagne as opposed to $111.11 at Dubai duty free shops. He said that the company is looking to promote the chain of stores through this competitive pricing, as well as by offering free products along with another purchase, such as $40 worth of chocolates free with every 60 GB iPod, which is worth $440. Some of the brands that Flemingo retails are Gucci, Calvin Klein, Escada, Cartier, Morris Perfumes, Euro Italia, Glenmorangie, Johnnie Walker and Toblerone. The company has also introduced electronic goods such as iPods and televisions at its stores. The company has stores at the arrival and departure terminals of 12 Indian airports including Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. Apart from India, the company has presence in Sri Lanka, and will look to open shops in Bali and Jakarta as well.
