THE Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has urged the Dell President and CEO, Mr Kevin B. Rollins, to consider Hyderabad as the preferred destination for the company's plans to set up a manufacturing facility in India.

Inaugurating Dell's new facility housing customer contract centre operations and global development centre for IT on Sunday, the Chief Minister said: "I hear that Dell is proposing to locate a manufacturing facility in India and is looking for suitable location in the South. I urge upon Mr Rollins to consider Hyderabad for the same."

According to the Chief Minister, the State offers the best talent pool, infrastructure, power, water, logistics, communications, and a proactive Government.

He added that the State Government had also initiated measures to decongest the State Capital by laying a 160-km-long eight-lane ring road around Hyderabad and setting up satellite towns around the city.

Appreciating Dell for expanding its operations in Hyderabad, Dr Reddy urged the company to consider expanding its BPO operations into second-rung cities and towns such as Visahkapatnam, Vijayawada, Warangal, and Tirupati.

Earlier, Mr Rollins said the company's decision to expand its activities in Hyderabad was part of strategic business decision. The facility houses Dell's customer contract centre operations and a global development centre for IT projects.
