Chennai , Jan. 30

THE Rs 1,500-crore Forbes Gokak Ltd, a part of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, is investing Rs 15-20 crore to double its production from the current 2.5 million garments a year.

The company also plans to set up its own sourcing centre at Tirupur and build the "Campbell by Forbes'' brand.

Mr K.C. Mehra, Deputy Chairman and Managing Director, Forbes Gokak Ltd, said the company decided to focus on the Indian market because of the large population of young people. The company opened its first exclusive `Campbell by Forbes' store in Chennai today. He said that business forecasts indicate that Tamil Nadu would be in the growth mode in the next few years, driven mainly by the information technology industry.

He said that Forbes Gokak planned to open one flagship store in all the major metros and follow it up with shops-in-shops. In Chennai, the company plans to have more than 30 shops-in-shops. The next Forbes stores would come up in Orissa and in Kolkata.
