Hyderabad , Jan. 30

AIMED at catering to growing needs of the upmarket customer segment, Bombay Dyeing & Manufacturing Company Ltd proposes to set up a strong network of theme stores under the brand `Bed & Bath' across the country.

Addressing newspersons after inaugurating the first such `Bed & Bath' theme store here, the company's Regional Manager, South, Mr D.R. Sridharan, said the company has already identified potential areas across the country for opening theme stores.

The company has chalked out a plan to open around 25 stores in major cities and towns in the next 12 months. He said majority of these would run under franchise arrangements.

Bombay Dyeing is currently examining a proposal to have company-owned theme stores in key locations of the country. However, no decision was taken yet, he said.

Apart from stocking the fresh range of bed sheets and towels that the brand is largely known for, Bombay Dyeing would also stock in the new theme stores with products ranging from classy candles, aromas, bath mats among others, Mr Sridharan said.

According to him, the brand understands that today's evolved consumers desire a complete solution for their home needs under a single roof. "Our first `Bed & Bath' store in the prime location of Banjara Hills in Hyderabad is an attempt towards this direction."

Further, Mr Sridharan said Bombay Dyeing is also changing the face of its retail stores with a new product line, packaging, display, merchandising and advertising.

The idea is to offer a wide assortment of merchandise at regular department store prices, he said.
