Market Shares Hero Honda hopes to corner 10-15 pc market share in scooter segment Our Bureau
Coimbatore , Jan. 30 HERO Honda, which has made an entry into the scooter segment with the launch of its 100-cc model `Pleasure', is confident of capturing a 10-15 per cent market share in the first year. The scooter segment's size, estimated to be around 1 million units annually, is expected to grow by about 12 per cent next financial year, according to Mr S.V. Shetty, Zonal Manager-South, Hero Honda Motors Ltd. Mr Shetty was addressing newspersons in Coimbatore after inaugurating `Just4her', an exclusive scooter showroom for women by Hero Honda's dealer Suguna Automobiles. The scooter has been introduced in Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore and will be launched in Kochi. Initially, the model would be available in 22 cities across the country. He said while the company has essentially targeted women while launching this model, it did not mean there was any gender bias. It has been found that women constitute the largest number of drivers of non-geared scooters.Mr Sivakumar, Managing Partner, Suguna Automobiles, said the company is selling around 900 Hero Honda motorcycles every month through its three outlets in the city.
