Fighting corruption

This is with reference to, "Factor in the bribe too," (Business Line, January 26). The author emphasises the need that the taxation policy and tax rates should be formulated in such a way that corruption is eliminated or at least reduced considerably.

In fact, procedural reforms and introduction of technology has eliminated bribes taken to grant birth or death certificates.

Further, e-governance is growing. It could play an important role against corruption. Why can't it be implemented in the finance sector too? In several areas corruption thrives because of the mismatch between demand and supply. Why not concentrate on this and introduce innovative methods for monitoring this?

A. Jacob Sahayam,
