PVR revenue up in Q3

NEW DELHI: Delhi-based multiplex chain, PVR Ltd has recorded a net profit of Rs 71 lakh for the third quarter ended December 31, 2005 — a 109 per cent growth. Total revenues for the period rose 48 per cent to Rs 24.88 crore.

For the nine months ended December 31, 2005, revenues grew 59 per cent at Rs 80.59 crore while net profit stood at Rs 4.58 crore.

The chain plans a new brand name for its no-frills screens to be set up in small towns with ticket price in the Rs 50-60 range. Mr Ajjay Bijli, Chairman and Managing Director, said that two such centres were are being set up at in Aurangabad and Latur. PVR had raised Rs 128 crore through an IPO to fund its expansion plans. It plans to increase the number of screens from 47 to 75 in the coming next few months.
