Chennai , Feb. 1

TRACTORS and Farm Equipment Ltd (TAFE) on Wednesday said it sold 6,100 tractors in January 2006 against 3,810 in January last year. This includes the sales of Eicher tractors, which the company acquired mid-2005.

According to a TAFE press release, the market share for January 2006 is estimated to be 24 per cent against 21 per cent for the same month last year.

The release said that the performance from June 2005, subsequent to acquiring Eicher tractors was significant. While TAFE's tractor group had grown by 30 per cent in absolute sales volumes against an industry growth of 17 per cent, its cumulative market share had grown to 23 per cent for this period against 21 per cent for the comparable period in the previous financial year.
