Kochi , Feb. 1

SUTHERLAND Global Services, a New York-headquartered business process outsourcing company, has announced plans to set up a 3,000 people facility in Kochi at an investment of Rs 120 crore.

"We are confident that the talent pool and robust infrastructure in Kerala will provide advantages of cost, scalability and more importantly value across the spectrum of services we offer our clients," said Mr Dilip Vellodi, Chairman and CEO of Sutherland Global Services at a press conference here.

The Rs 1,000-crore company plans to set up a 25-acre campus at Kalamassery on the outskirts of Kochi, in the land provided by Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra).

"We are starting with 500 people," Mr Vellodi said. Over the next 36 months, the company would ramp up its operations in Kochi to have a headcount of 3,000 people.

Sutherland has two centres in India — in Chennai and Mumbai — where it has over 8,000 people. Indian operations began four years ago.
