Human Resources HP Global to hire 2,000 more; eyes Tier II cities to expand Moumita Bakshi Chatterjee
New Delhi , Feb. 1 HP Global e-Business Operations today said it plans to add about 2,000 people to its India operations over the next 18 months, and is looking at Tier-II cities to set up additional centres. "In India, we have 6,000 employees spread across two centres in Bangalore and one centre in Chennai. We are now looking at tier-II cities for setting up new centres over the next 12 months," Mr Sanjay Singh, Director - India Business Centres, Global eBusiness Operations of HP, said here. Some of the potential locations on the radar are Goa, Vizag, Jaipur, and Coimbatore, he said. The company is yet to identify the final location. It employs 9,000 professionals worldwide and has centres in China, Singapore, Poland, Romania, Spain, Costa Rica and Mexico. The Indian operations form a part of the global delivery network. "The capabilities the new centres would handle depend on the final locations that we select. For instance, while the transactional sub-processes such as indexing can be done through the centre in a tier II city, the high-end analytics work may continue to be handled from the existing locations," he said. Mr Singh , however, declined to divulge the investment earmarked for setting up the new centres. Commenting on the headcount growth, Mr Singh said the company expected to add about 2,000 professionals to its Indian operations in the next 18 months. At present, the company serves both internal and external clients around the world. HP offers services in finance and accounting, procurement, HR operations, business analytics, and sales and marketing. "At present, 20 per cent of our overall operations is commercial (external customers) and the rest 80 per cent is internal work. We see this becoming 50:50 in the coming two years," he added.
