THE Ambani brothers are interested in doing business in West Bengal, Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Chief Minister, told a meeting organised by FICCI on Thursday.

While Mr Anil Ambani is expected to visit Kolkata later this month for an IT training facility, Mr Mukesh Ambani has proposed a 20,000-acre biotechnology unit.

The Chief Minister also said that a Tata project was almost finalised, and a company delegation had visited the State to check out its investment scenario.

He added that Ashok Leyland, the commercial vehicles manufacturer, was also interested in establishing an assembling facility in the State.

Meanwhile, a Rs 3,000-crore allocation to the steel industry was on the cards, FICCI members were informed. Mr Bhattacharjee warned that iron ore exports should be given a fresh look, especially keeping the interests of the domestic industry in mind.
