Reliance Airport moves court against award

THE modernisation plan for Delhi and Mumbai airports faced its first major legal hurdle on Thursday with the Reliance Airport Developers Private Ltd filing a petition in the Delhi High Court challenging the award of the modernisation contract.
In a statement, the Group said it had sought "fairness and transparency" in the award of the contracts. Reliance was among the four bidders in fray for modernising the two airports. However, the Group was unsuccessful in winning the mandate despite emerging as the highest financial bidder for Delhi airport.
Reliance's decision to knock at the door of the courts comes even as air travellers around the country were inconvenienced for the second consecutive day due to the agitation by sections of Airports Authority of India (AAI) employees protesting against the Government's decision to modernise the two metro airports.
