HYDERABAD: The South Central Railway (SCR) has achieved the best ever originating freight loading performance for a month in January 2006, at 5.9 million tonnes.

"This is highest ever for any single month. This is also a significant 25.7 per cent increase over 4.71 million tonnes registered in the same month last year," an SCR press release said here on Friday.

Coal loading took the lead at 2.59 million tonnes and cement at 1.92 million tonnes. The other important contributors were fertilisers 0.23 mt and iron ore 0.23 mt.
