THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Surgicals major Terumo Penpol has introduced the Compo safe semi-automatic Expressor SAE 500 that helps standardise the red blood cells (RBC)/packed cells by retaining selected volume of plasma with RBC in double and triple blood bags.

This automatic process ensures maximum yield of components with optimum storage of RBC, a Terumo Penpol spokesperson said here. Users can select the plasma requirement that needs to be retained in RBC by selecting the options available.

A highly sensitive opto-electronic sensor ensures the instant sensing between transfer of blood components. Weighing scale interface is also provided to separate specific volume of plasma for preparing aliquots and specific volume of components. Automatic and manual clamping modes provide a high degree of flexibility.
