Kochi , Feb. 6 PETRONET LNG Ltd (PLL) has floated global tenders for pre-qualification of ship owners and operators for transportation of LNG to its proposed terminal at Kochi. PLL, a joint venture company promoted by BPCL, GAIL, IOC and ONGC, is setting up a greenfield LNG re-gasification terminal at Kochi with a capacity of 2.5 MMTPA with provision of expansion to 5.0 MMTPA. PLL is finalising the long-term LNG sale and purchase agreement for supply of 2.5 MMTPA of LNG to Kochi on f.o.b. (freight on board) basis for a period of 25 years. PLL intends to time charter two LNG tankers of 165,000 to 175,000 cu. m. capacity from the ship owners and operators having experience in owing and operating LNG tankers of at least 125,000 cu m capacity. The shipowners and operators would be responsible for all shipping related activities from loading facilities to unloading facilities at re-gasification terminal of PLL at Kochi or any other terminal, if required by PLL as per the programme of deliveries or arrived at between PLL and its suppliers of LNG. The scope of the work of the successful time charter party would be to provide new tankers built by the experienced shipyards as per PLL specification and to operate the tankers throughout the period of time charter so as to provide safe and reliable transportation of LNG contracted by PLL.
