New Delhi , Feb. 6

QATAR Airways is to launch a three-times-a-week service between Doha and Nagpur from this summer, the airline's Chief Executive Officer, Mr Akbar Al Baker, said on Monday.

"The airline will launch the flight with an Airbus A-319 aircraft that will offer 110 seats in each direction. The exact date for the launch of the service is yet to be firmed up. We feel Nagpur has huge potential and is underserved by both domestic and international airlines," said Mr Al Baker.

On the fares the airline will charge on the new sector, Mr Al Baker said, "We will have a special promotional fare for the new flight. But we are not a low-cost airline and we do not believe in dropping fares into markets that we go into," Mr Al Baker said.

Now, low-cost airline Air Arabia is the only international airline that has regular services from Nagpur.

Qatar Airways, which currently operates 30 weekly flights to five Indian cities, is also exploring the option of launching flights to other cities.
