Maharashtra to hike power capacity

THE Maharashtra Government has decided to enhance the power generation capacity in the State by 1000 MW.

A proposal would soon be introduced in the Cabinet for discussions, said Mr Dilip Walse Patil, Energy Minister, at a press conference.

Mr Patil said that Rs 4,000 crore would be required for adding 1000 MW generation capacity over the next four years. New capacity would come up at the Paras, Parli and Kaparkheda power stations of MahaGeneration (formerly Maharashtra State Electricity Board).
