Raw materials expo to be held in Coimbatore

Our Bureau

Coimbatore , Feb. 8

INDUSTRIAL Raw Materials Expo (INDRAW 2006) is being organised here by the Coimbatore District Small Industries' Association (Codissia) and the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) from February 16 to 18 at the Codissia trade fair complex.

The exhibition will provide a platform to the raw material suppliers and consumers to come together and will help to meet the growing demand for iron and steel.

Mr J. Balu, President, Codissia, said the engineering industry had a strong presence in Coimbatore region and the SSIs require between 10,000 tonnes and 15,000 tonnes of iron, steel, sheets, rods etc., every month. Because of the global outsourcing opportunities, the demand for raw materials has been on the increase.

The fair could accommodate more than 100 stalls. Hence, Mr Balu appealed to the manufacturers and suppliers to utilise this opportunity to showcase their products. As a special gesture, Codissia has decided to accept registration for participation up to February 15.

He said based on the success of the fair, Codissia and NSIC would decide on holding it once in two years during January-February.
